I'm not hiding the fact that I wanted to test myself a bit with this trip. Autumn ride on the Balkan wilderness, often in the mountains, packing lightly, sleeping in a tent in the wild, fully self-contained, freeze-dried food... We did itl and by the way I saw a Croatia I did not know yet!
Piotr and I set off on Sunday and on the same day in the evening we set up the tent on Croatian soil. The first two days we did a custom track through the interior in the north parts of the country. Totally different Croatia than the one known from the coast, wild, abandoned, covered with forests and oddities like Petrova Gora. We feel free, the foresters or policemen we meet in the woods waving friendly to us. Then we bumped into the already well known TET, we wanted to drive the old version along the coast and through Sjeverni Velebit. Unfortunately, the latter is no longer available for bikers, the park authorities inform that there is no passage from the other side, indeed the barrier has been moved so that it can no longer be passed around. We didn't insisted, because I had a fresh memory of the words of Croatian TET linesman, that Velebit deserves a breath from the bikers :-) Nevertheless, It's a small loss because the road was mostly forest, so not very picturesque or so. We enter Velebit a bit further and make custom track to Mali Alan. We reach Knin and come back a new TET, at first it disappoints with a little to much asphalt, but after several kilometers you can see why. There is a lot of great gravel, very scenic. Linseman Croatia - this new section is a blast, thanks!
To sum up - no people, wilderness, beautiful colors and cold! Croatia charmed me again, we found heavier sections, we found super scenic, we de-icing the tents after the night when the fog had settled down to freeze, we were going through the swamp, sleeping in beautiful places, and getting up every day in the dark, because the day was already short! :-) The route was almost 90% no tarmac, except TET sections with just a little more.
One more thing. Previously I was there on a big GS, now on Husky. Riding pleasure is now a completely different world! Better and more beautiful world :-)
