There is one tire that I simply love - Motoz Desert. A real expedition bastard. If you're wondering how it dies - here it is! This tire has such a strong tread that sooner it will fall apart, literally, than wear out ;p In addition, it's not a single case, because after returning from the African trip, we observed the same thing with two Deserts!
The first symptom was a strange swinging of rear end. Then I had flat tires, 3 in total. It took me three times to figure out what was going on. Cracks appeared from the inside, pinching the inner tube and causing it to fail. The cord began to fall apart and the whole structure literally gave up under the firm push by hand. Interestingly, third copy was better preserved, but Kuba pumped his wheels to over 2 bars for termac, and I, as usual - not at all.
Result: 15700km. Conclusion: it really pays off to pump it for long-run rides, the tire works much less and lasts longer.
